This is something we've never nailed down, and we should probably get someting official on the books.
I am proposing: -If an MiLB player with less than 3 options is kept or traded, the number of remaining options carries over to the new year or team. -If an MiLB player with less than 3 options is dropped or not kept, the number of remaining options resets to 3, unless that player is picked up by the previous owner during the same season.

I agree with statement 1 but I disagree with statement 2. The options for a player should never reset.

I agree with statement 1 but I disagree with statement 2. The options for a player should never reset. I agree with you, but the problem is it gets really hard to track options on minor league free agents. In a keep or trade, someone always owns the player and can be responsible for keeping track, but if you're just picking one up you'll have to search back through old posts to count how many options- it could get complicated.

I can relate with due diligence being way too hairy for any one of us (or even a group) at this point. Having to comb through all eligible players and maintain a carry-over waiver system accurately would take weeks and no one should have to dedicate that kind of time.
The key part to all of this is requiring the "Options Remaining" line in trade negotiations and including such in the agreed-upon trade post.
I will agree with Statement 2 for the time being but I will keep pondering what alternatives might exist to make it easier on all of us.
