Someone's got to start this thread, right? The most hotly contested first three picks of the MiLB Draft in a few years, right? Tanaka, Abreu, Arrebuena, etc. ...I'm excited to see how the chips fall until I'm left with doo-doo at 1.12, haha.

I'm pretty excited by the level of talent I expect to still be available when I pick at 1.15.

Never said it was bad doo-doo! The talent pool is pretty deep, I'll admit it.

I knew Bryant wouldn't be available at 6. I thought about filling a future need, but I only liked Bryant this early, and Gray was easily the best player left. I have a pretty solid MiLB staff now with Gray, Syndergaard, Taillon, Almonte and Sanchez.

No shockers so far...was expecting Meadows to be available for me at 7 and happy to take him off the board.

I didn't think Maikel Franco was going to go this early. I really wanted him, but couldn't justify NOT picking Gray 4th.

Not sure if he was the best available, but position, age, team, and possible opportunity made it impossible for me to pass on him.

I have to go and will not be in front of my computer the rest of the day. If someone could text me after JB picks I already know who I want and can keep the draft moving. 704-651-9708. Thanks

Jackson, I got ya buddy.
I thought Franco would go at #8 myself. Kid's got a quick patch to the majors (2015 full-time job at 3B, probably ends up switching to 1st after Howard's contract ends). I'm not high on Cody Asche at all and think he goes to a utility role or perhaps an outfield slot/DH when playing in AL parks. I knew he would not drop to me, long story short.

I think I had Franco last season and didn't keep him...

I was wondering why he wasn't kept... figured he slipped through the 'Goldschmidt Crack'.

I think I might rename my team to "Goldschmidt Crack" after reading that. Pure gold.

I agree with Bunge, no shockers yet. I was really hoping Franco or Frazier would have lasted to me, but there's still plenty of talent left and I'm excited to see who's available at my pick.
BTW, thanks again for shifting around the draft time. The conference I went to awesome. I got to have drinks with the Prince of Monaco, the former head of the CIA and secretary of defense, oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, reporters and executives from The Economist and National Geographic and my new best friend award-winning photographer Paul Nicklan.
I've got some crazy stories I'll share with you guys later, but for now just know it was fantastic and I couldn't be happier about the start of spring training.

I have to go to work, and I'll be there until about 9 tonight, but if someone texts me when it's my turn, I know who I want. 757-705-2889

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. I honestly thought I'd get a steal with Eduardo. He's the #3 Orioles prospect and a guy who will be in the rotation in June... make no mistake. Damn it.
Sorry, I've had one crazy day at the office with interns starting. Plus, all of our video boards have been installed so I've been helping run fiber everywhere. I'm a busy guy, y'all!

I almost took Eduardo instead of Guerrero but was looking at the hole in my middle infield. Now I am quickly regretting my choice after seeing how fast he went and doing a little more research.

Are we on four hours per pick now?

Didn't see a note in the main draft lineup thread. Last year, it was round 4 where we went to 4 hours...

I couldn't remember, and I couldn't find anything, either. Matt pretty much runs the league now, so I always feel out of the loop...

It's still 8 hours per pick until round 4. It and round 5 are both 4 hours per pick.
Matt and I are hanging out. He says hi.

If you two nerds were hanging out, does this mean you were referencing him in a message on the board when you could have instead just said this aloud? Just checking... NEEEEEERRRRRRDDDSSSS!!!! (think Ogre from "Revenge of the Nerds")

You know, when you were a baby in your crib, your father looked down at you, he had but one hope - some day my son will grow to be a man. Well look at you now. You just got your asses whipped... by a bunch of goddamn nerds. NERDS!
classic...

I can't believe how long ago that movie was shot. And now, we see the "King of the Nerds" show on TV with Lewis and Booger as hosts... Not sure how I feel about that. But the original movie is awesome (not the second, third or fourth ones, though).

I thought I'd done solid research on this draft, but several guys have been selected that I've never heard of...
