If you want to pick on the Fontenot pick, then you need to pick on everyone around him as well. As I said before, Lind, Bartlett, Swisher, & Polanco seem to have very questionable value and were all drafted around Fontenot. That has been my contention to begin with. He was the 190th player taken. Comparable to the 16th round in a regular 12 team league. Stewart was not a bad pick for the round. I was looking at him too, and would have drafted him if I could have. Point was that he will have less value than Fontenot this year because of the difference in production from a 2B to an OF. If he does that, then he's as valuable or more valuable than many of the players taken around him. That's not a bad pick! That's all I've been trying to say! Did you catch Aybar's SB% in the minors when he was stealing all those bases? SB/CS 51/36 in A ball 49/23 in AA ball & 32/18 in AAA ball. That doesn't translate well into MLB. In the 1 year that he played AAA, his OBP was .327. None of that bodes well for the Big Show, IMO. Saying he'll be lucky to get over a .300 OBP was an exaggeration, but is .314 much better compared to .360? I said Polanco sucked just as much as Fontenot, and he went earlier. And I took him. The next 5 2B taken after Fontenot: Aaron Hill Orlando Hudson Asdrubal Cabrera Felipe Lopez Kaz Matsui and yeah, I guess the 6th was DeWitt. DeWitt is a terrible fantasy player, and worse than Fontenot. Whatever, 5-6 means 5.

Hey fuck you buddy. Sorry, with all the hostility I couldn't resist. I was in a different state than my player list and Dewitt was the only name I could think of. Don't think I don't regret that pick. I should have just grabbed Burriss. It might have been early but I would have been much happier.

Quick reference questions:
What is the league minimum at bats for a MiLB player to become eligible for the MLB draft?
What is the league minimum IP for a MiLB pitcher? Thanks...
I thought I read somewhere that if Manny and LA can't find a union, then the Dodgers were thinking about targeting Dunn?

I think I read something along those lines too, Dave, and Dunn would definitely prefer the Dodgers. If either guy comes to LA for the entire 2009 season, my hope is Matt Kemp gets 100+ R... which would be very awesome.
BTW, Austin, EXCELLENT pick. My pre-picked players are depleting fast.

Couldn't the Dodgers sign Dunn, Sheets, and Orlando Hudson for the same cost as Manny? Wouldn't that make them some sort of ultimate cool awesome team of all time?

Like that video Herbert the Pervert a spin-off of Belushi from Animal House.
Keep these wacky videos coming. The Porn Super Bowl I showed both of my boys and the 12 year-old one got grossed out while the 15 year-old laughed. BMuhl and the guys from my basketball league has some excellent sports videos. They had a 12 year-old kid that can dribble a basketball anywhich way.
Hey Jackson the kids ain't on the lawn because its all snow......

Dobbs was a great pick, he could compete for that starting 3B job.

Is anyone else having this problem with ESPN. When I use the old link 2008 version, I am able to add a player, but then it changes to the 2009 version and adding players is not an option. It reads Action N/A next to the player.
Back in the a.m. Thanks! BTW I have never seen so much discussion on a player before...a 2B no less. Glad to see there are some passionate players in this league. And if I could take my 1st pick back, I would have selected the SS Perallta from the Tribe. Alas...but Ethier will age well and be protected in the lineup by Manny or Dunn or Kemp? Keep up the baseball banter...loving it.

Grabow has just as much a shot at closing given Capps' shoulder problems. Bursitis is a VERY ugly injury among pitchers of any variety. I'm not expecting Capps to go down for any definitive amount of time, but it's still a possibility.

Sorry Jackson, the last text I sent you came back to me, and I got too busy. Where'd you get the $14M figure for Jones? Cot's says $9M. mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/06/free-agent-position-players.htmlI mean, I'm going to dump him when I have to call up James McDonald if he doesn't pan out, but I wouldn't have taken the risk at nearly $15M vs $9M.

Nine million big ones for Andruw Jones is correct per Cot's MLB Contracts. I remember this after owning Jones and instantly making him the only baseball player I truly despise both in real life AND fantasy.

Those figures probably include any signing bonus he was paid. I think it was roughly $5.1M in '08.

If an owner keeps or drafts a minor league player and during the season that player hits the minimum of AB's or IP, can another owner poach that player after a certain time limit? Or, is the rule that once a manager owns that player they keep him as long as they want, and it is their decision to upgrade them to their MLB roster or keep them in the self-imposed minors? Thanks

If your guy reaches 50 IP or 130 AB, he's no longer eligible for the minors, so you cannot stash him. You have to place him on your MLB roster or drop him. At that point, other owners are free to make a waiver claim on that MiLB talent if he's dropped.
