I think we should vote again on this issue before we formally invite anyone. The situation has changed, so several minds may have changed with it. Agreed. Also, I'm wondering why, when we've known about this for two months, we suddenly "find" a good owner when we start talking about contraction. Why couldn't we have found this owner two months ago? Or a month ago? Or hell, even a week ago? Regardless, if he'll be a good owner, great. Let's just make sure, before we invite him, that we have a viable 16-team league. I think the problem arose because most of us assumed Joe was going to take over Lee's team, and a few days ago when he decided he wasn't man enough it was a scramble to figure out what to do. I've known Matt's brother-in-law for 5 years or so. He knows his stuff and will compliment this league.

Dumpster fire of a team? I like the outlooks going forward.

We should find out what we can about his family situation before we make that judgment call. Though judging by what little we know already, there is a strong chance his team should be put up for contraction.
Now that we've had conversations about this, perhaps we should add a contraction clause to our league bylaws, adding an extra step to Gary's suggestion of deletion for lack of participation. If we want this to be the best and eventually become a money league or whatever else, then we should take it seriously and kick some butts into gear.

What about the Junkies team? He's still participating. I sent him a reminder about the keeper deadline tonight, but I have his permission to post his keepers if he can't get on. Give the guy a break, he's got a newborn that's not doing too well. It's stupid to judge a guy's ability to be a kick ass owner in this league based on a small sampling of what's probably the toughest time in his life. All this talk of deleting teams and contracting multiple teams is bullshit. Based on your logic we would've deleted/contracted Mack last year. This isn't supposed to be some fucking prison-system-mandatory-participation league, this is fantasy baseball. A game. A fun game that people should feel good about playing in. If someone is gone for a year and stops responding to emails that's one thing, but if someone's just not active on the trading blocks that's their prerogative. The fact that 2 more people have voted to contract AFTER I came on and said I've got a great manager lined up is baffling, absolutely baffling. Isn't it ideal to have 16 solid owners lined up? Or do people really want Kinsler, Sizemore, etc that bad? Or is it fear that a new owner would just push them further down in the ranks?

Dave sounds legit.
Let's roll with 16 if Junkies is still in, or replace him with Dave if he's out.

Dumpster fire of a team? I like the outlooks going forward. You were the only orginal owner in the bottom 4 of the standings. That's a flaming, white hot, covered in gasoline dumpster fire. We were going to give you Sizemore or Markakis because your hot mess of a fantasy team was so horrible.

Sorry, I voted before you found the new owner, but I did say during discussion that if we found a new owner I'd be down with that. Of course it's ideal if we have 16 solid owners. Do we? However, I just want to point out I find it equally baffling that it took posting a poll about contracting a team for this league to find a good, new owner.

This thread was about contracting Lee's team an the vote is 7 to 2 to contract Lee's team. The vote has been populated an it is agreement to contract Lee's team, but Matt needs to disrupt the poll an tell us he has a new owner for that team. We all have the right to agree & disagree with any type of issues brought to the table, an let a poll to determine the fate of an issue.
I'm sorry about David's new-born baby, an I feel for the guy. It is very hard when someone you love is having a hard time. Do we really know if David will be ready when are draft opens up in January? My mother is an the hospital an has been there for over two weeks, she really is having a hard time. She has gone through 2 open-heart surgeries, now something is wrong with her belly, an the doctors are having a hard time diagnosing her problem.
Yes, we need a contraction clause. Last year we all know what happen, an owner went missing for 2 months, an one of the CHIEFS wanted to make a trade with that team. So we sent out the search party an he was found an the trade was made, an he became active again, so it worked out, an there was nothing wrong with the trade. But, truly do we want something like that to happen again? Just maybe if it happen again it won't end so successful.
We all have the right to agree & disagree, an if something needs to change an if that change is better for the league, lets make that change.

If we can find another owner that is vouched for, let's bring him in. Its less hassle and is the easy solution. It really doesn't take much effort into what should be looked at as "Your #1 fantasy league priority".
If someone is whilling to make that commitment we should at least give them the benefit of the doubt, like you did for Colin and I.
I also think an advisory board of 5 owners should be put together to make executive decisions for the league. Steering committee or use of an electorial college could go a long way with these decisions. Obviously every situation is different, such as Lee or David's and should be judged on an individual basis, rather than a blanket law.

All I'm saying is replacing three owners two years in a row is pretty pointless. Shannon and Colin are MONEY, so we can count on them. But come on man, we had to replace an owner this year who we thought was going to replace an owner from LAST year. That's a fucking joke no matter how you look at it.
It's worth it to talk all of this out to review and exhaust our options before we move forward. We have a better mindset of the direction we need to take because of it. So while you might be baffled or irritated or whatever it is you feel, we're making progress. And any progress made in a complicated setup like this is positive.

He saw Lee's team and he wants in, he says he'll stay committed to the league. I've talked about the league to him before and he's mentioned his interest. He'd be perfect, and certainly better than removing a team. This is pretty much exactly what we've wanted since Lee left, an experienced, committed, adult owner who doesn't mind coming late to the show. Mack, should I formally invite him? Yes. I think we can all agree that 16 teams is ideal for this league. I don't want to do this every season, though, so contraction will absolutely remain a topic of discussion. Everyone one of you a-holes better be in this for the long-haul. No Howard mid-life crisis where you only want to play with teenagers.

I second Yoink's vote...let him play, let him play!
Thanks for advocating for me Matt and Josh, life has been a bit challenging and Jackson is doing well and dreaming of Spring training, although his baseball mitt is larger than he is.
I take responsibility for my long absence, and hope that does not happen again! I must confess that when my team is a bottom feeder with little out there to improve it-mid year, and with playing the MiLB lottery, hoping for the next Ryan Braun, it can be a bit discouraging to stay super involved.
Have we decided on when draft begins? I thought I saw a vote for Sunday, but have not read any future posts?

Glad to hear your son is doing better, and good job giving him a strong, masculine, hero of a name. It will serve him well, get him laid constantly, and help him dominate fantasy baseball.

I saw 11 people vote for Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Central... So I assumed it was starting at that time.
Dave, don't ever apologize for the way life goes sometimes. Shit happens, and instead of our being upset about your absence, we are all rooting for you and your son to be well and good this new year. That's what friends do, after all. We are very glad to hear you are all doing okay. Fuck a fantasy baseball league; life always comes first.
