Hey fellas, the keeper deadline is less than 4 weeks away, so we should hurry up and vote on whatever needs to be voted on. Here are some issues that came up over the course of last year that we should discuss. Please reply to this thread with any thoughts or suggestions you may have for these or any other issues.
-Penalties for posting keepers late- For 3 years straight someone has posted their keepers well after the deadline, and it was suggested that we might have some sort of penalty for that. I'm not implying this was ever done intentionally, but this gives the manager the advantage of seeing everyone else's keepers before deciding. This also make it more difficult for everyone else to prepare for the draft. Perhaps we could have a draft pick or salary penalty? Or should keepers be automatically selected based on ranks, ESPN % ownership, etc?
-Should we raise the salary cap?- We could vote whether or not to increase it this year only. It has also been suggested that we create a multi-year plan so managers know further in advance what the cap will be.
-Limits for future year draft pick trading?- Last year we voted not to cap the number of draft picks one can trade, but it was suggested that we might have a limit on the number of next year's draft picks one could trade.
-What day, time should the MLB draft start?- Typically we start 7-10 days after the keeper deadline.
Anything else?

We've never talked about this before, but I'd appreciate a discussion about raising the number of MiLB keepers. Ten keepers, a 5-round MiLB draft, and 5 MiLB FA pickups would be my preference. One of the things I love most about this league is the chance to speculate on the future of prospects, and I'd like a chance to keep a few more of them.
Additionally, I think all of the topics proposed by Matt are worth discussing/voting on when we start the Winter Meetings.

1. A Penalty makes sense--not sure what though.
2. Raise the cap, sure--not something I a passionate about either way
3. No do not limit trading
4. Jan. 12/13?

All of these are just suggestions to the posted things. I don't remember how vote options even were developed/created before...
1) 1 less keeper for every day not posted or auto selected based on their EOY rank (caveat that I'd approve: the manager may request that an injured player can be dumped for the next highest rated guy after the fact; also, retired people would obviously be dumped even if they were rated high enough). 2) Raise the cap and have an automatic raise every other year (some arbitrary number, 5-10 million increase?) 3) No limit 4) My work training is heavy from 1/7-1/11, but I was able to make it work last year since things tend to move slowly and I get a lot of time to make my pick (one of the only times that not having a smart phone makes things a pain, as I have to skip out on lunch or dinner a little early to find a computer to review things and then draft - this is how I tried to draft DJ Peterson like 3 rounds after he was picked last year)
Per Jugs - I like the idea of increasing MiLB keepers. It allows for a little more flexibility in keeping guys that are close to the majors and stashing a few guys who are far away.

Ok anything else? I'll set some polls up this week and try to incorporate all of these suggestions. Thanks.

My only other suggestion is this, that we go back to reverse order for draft picks. The probability of the team with the second most opportunities to get a pick ending up with the second to last pick among the teams which finished 9-16 is incredibly low. But this is the second time that's happened.
If people purposefully tank we'll know about it and so what if they do, real baseball teams are doing it too.
If we are seriously concerned about tanking, let me propose an alternative.
Teams that finish 16-13 end up in one lottery group for picks 1-4. Teams that end up in 12-9 are put in a separate pool for picks 5-8. Then we continue in reverse order for those who finished 7-1.
I will get off my soap box now.

I like increasing the amount of MiLB keepers. I like the idea of breaking up the lottery into 2 (or maybe 3) groups to limit the damage due to bad luck.

I would vote to keep more MiLB players. I think it would give a little more value to all prospects, not just the ones on the verge of promotion.
I think we should adopt a set salary cap raise, whether it's a fixed dollar amount or percentage, and a time frame instead of discussing it every year. I don't think it needs to go up every season, though.
We need to raise the minimum. What was it last season, $480,000? It should be $500,000 if it's not. I can't remember and I'm on my phone, so I don't feel like looking.
As far as the draft order, I'd be okay with going back to reverse order of finish after 2015. I've become more concerned with owners getting bored and quitting than with owners tanking for draft position.
A draft start anywhere from the 10th to the 12th works for me. I don't work a 9-5, so if starting on the weekend works better, that's cool. Starting on Monday is better for me, but I'll vote with the majority.

FYI, we are raising minimum wage to $500k this year to match the real MLB minimum wage from 2014. No vote.
