Always looking to improve my draft while getting younger and cheaper. I'm most interested in an MLB keeper C or SS, and early MiLB picks.
1B Miguel Cabrera – Best hitter on the planet for the last 12 years, only 32 years old. Consistently among the elite in AVG, OBP, & RBI, and merely the top 10-20 in HR & R. Like Kershaw, the only reason I’d trade him is the salary: $22mil next year and $28mil each year after.
RP Hector Rondon – Cemented his role as the Cubs’ closer by setting personal bests in Games, Saves, Ks, BBs, and ERA. 3rd best ERA among MLB closers last year. In his 3-year career he has 176 Ks and a 2.82 ERA in 188 IP. Only $544,000 next year.
SP Vincent Velasquez - The biggest piece in the Ken Giles trade, he's an awesome 23 year old pitcher.
C Yasmani Grandal - Potential top 5 in catcher HR, RBI, & OBP every year, only $693k
Glen Perkins - At least 32 saves each of the last 3 years.
Some others. SP James Shields SP Gio Gonzalez SP Mike Fiers SP Jose Quintana SP Trevor Bauer 1B Carlos Santana
Prospects:
Robert Stephenson, SP, Cin – Age 22 - AAA - Consensus top-10 SP prospect. 100mph fastball, excellent command, could make the rotation out of spring training.
Jharel Cotton, SP, LAD – Age 23 – AAA – 114/31 K/BB rate in 95.2 IP last year as he made the jump from A to AAA. 2.45 ERA and .223 opponents AVG as well. Just added to the 40-man roster, look for him on many top-100 lists this offseason.
Austin Voth, SP, Was – Age 23 – AA – 2013 5th round pick out of Washington, all he’s done in the minors is miss bats and get outs: 330.1 IP, 336 K, 85 BB, 2.70 ERA, .213 opponents AVG. Could make MLB debut next year.
Tyler O’Neill, OF, Sea – Age 20 – A+ - 32 HR and 16 SB in 2015, 3rd round pick in 2013, plus bat speed and plus-plus power.
Travis Jankowski, OF, SD – Age 24 – MLB(90 Abs) – 32 SB, 49 BB, 50 K, .335/.413 in 2015 in the minors, will have a chance to win a starting OF job with the Padres in 2016.
A medium-late draft pick could fill out your keeper roster.
