Since it seems none of us have the time or energy to actually run this league any longer, it has been proposed that the Sandlot become a standard 5x5 ESPN league. No salaries, etc. This poll is intended to find out how many of us would still play if the league changed to this format.

I'd also be in favor of no winter meetings, no changes this year and we just start the draft Jan. 2, keepers due by Dec. 31

I'm also down to punt this until next year-- but someone still has to email everyone to make sure they're coming back, track the draft pick trades, set up the draft, etc.
If the only choice is no league or standard 5x5, I'll stay with standard 5x5.

I say we punt. I should have some time this week to go through all trades and track the picks that changed hands. I might also be able to pull all the salaries and drop them into a spreadsheet. Would that help?

I vote to punt until next year as well. While I'd likely stay in the league if it became a standard 5x5 espn league, my commitment level to it would likely drop. I invest way more time in this league each year than any of my other standard leagues, and I enjoy it much more.

So what's going on?

I'm just going to arbitrarily say we all have until the end of January to pick keepers and hopefully we'll make some decisions over the next month. Also, I think we should do an online ESPN draft closer to the start of the season.
Finally, Sam Cook (Ripken's Boys) has informed me he's leaving the league. Given the difficulty we're having getting ourselves to participate, I don't think we should replace him. We will contract his team and all of his players will go into the draft. Any trades he was a part of will stand. If you gained a pick from him, you keep that pick. If you traded a pick to him, you lose that pick.

All things MLB and MiLB staying the same for a year? Salaries, roster sizes, categories, etc. Is this the gist?

OK, so it looks like all rules including salaries, keepers etc., are staying the same, but how many managers are returning? I know Ripken's Boys is out, anyone else not coming back?

That sounds correct. And I actually DO have someone who is interested in joining the league if you guys don't object. My cousin's husband has been playing fantasy baseball with a bunch of his college buddies for about 15 years and when I told him about the Sandlot when we were having Thanksgiving dinner together, he was pretty interested. I mean, it would mean Josh doesn't get Donaldson in the draft, but it would also mean we don't have to contract a team.

I'm for filling the gap. I'd rather take a chance that somebody will stay interested rather than shrink the size of the league...the size of the league is just another wrinkle that makes it tough/fun for me.

I'll talk to Jeff tomorrow and see what he wants to do. Please do. I'd rather have someone take over that team than get Josh Donaldson. I hope that doesn't come off snarky. I'm being sincere and I really want to keep this league going if possible.

So it's been nearly a month since this poll was put up and we still only have 8 votes. Unless we hear back from managers soon and people start posting their keepers and we get the draft results up, I think this league has died unfortunately.
Please someone prove me wrong

I think Josh is right. Nobody is really willing to step up and make this happen.
What I find heartening is that 13 owners have checked the Proboards site in the last 2-3 weeks. That's a good thing, and it tells me that most of us at least have the time to check the site, if not run the league. I would like to continue competing against any of you who would stay in the Sandlot if we went to a no salary 6x6 league...effectively shuttering what we do here on Proboards and sticking with everything we do on ESPN. That probably means no MiLB rosters anymore, unfortunately.
