Clearly we need to greatly simplify the Sandlot in order to survive. I propose the following:
1. We keep the ESPN league intact. 2. We drop everything we keep track of here on Proboards other than Minor League rosters and drop/adds.
This means no more salaries, no more 6-week long drafts, no more trades involving draft picks, no more MLB transaction posts, no need to keep a roster spreadsheet, no winter meetings, etc. What it does mean is that we are able to keep the league together and, if we all decide we have more time some year, we can go back to the way it used to be.
We can start with the rosters we currently have or start from scratch.
Please respond and let the league know if you will stay or go.

I'd be okay with that proposed level of simplicity for the time being. Part of me thinks that in a year (maybe two) we'll have a little more willingness from some of us to step up. Since about 9000% of us just had a kid within the last 4 months, a year could make a big difference. I'm cool with a placeholder type system (even if that placeholder is infinite). That said, I traded a lot of "present" for "future" so I'm bummed about losing all these picks I acquired.

How about we each keep 1 MLB player and 1 MiLB player that's in the ESPN player pool, just so we have a chance to retain our favorite players.
Or not. Just start from scratch. Random Draft Order.

Hell, I'm ok with keeping it 14 keepers (as we voted on last Winter Meetings) as long as we decide something. Also, I do have one replacement owner lined up. He's down for a more simplified league as he and his wife just had their second kid this week (what is it with this league and babies all of a sudden) but would be up for making the league different/better/more involved in the future.

I like the proposals. It is definitely easier to maintain a team that is fully handled on ESPN. If we are getting rid of salaries I would be cool with a re-draft with a small amount of keepers (2-3?). I'll be pretty bummed out if I have to choose between Correa and Altuve after I waited on Correa and worked so hard to trade for Altuve. That being said I'll do none or 12 if it keeps the league going.

I'll be back. I think it might be interesting if we did something where we have like 10 total keepers and they can be any combo of MLB MiLB. Maybe I'm adding a complication, but that might allow some people who were going for the future to save more MiLB guys and teams in a more "now" place to keep more MLB players. I'll stick around with any rule decisions.

I'm in, no matter what. Sorry I've been a little slow on the responses lately. Generally I take the fake offseason off and concentrate on football. I put in so much time for this league during the year, that I completely walk away when it's done.
I generally prefer to keep minor league players, as keeping this aspect at least makes it different than other leagues. Is there a way to open up ESPN's rosters to include MILB players, then we just expand the roster size and put milb players on there? It would be easier to track them that way.
I would rather keep our existing keeper format with our existing rosters rather than start all over: 14 MLB and 10 MILB (it's 10 right?)

I don't think it's too much to ask that we keep it at 14 and 10, and the only thing we have to keep track of here is our MiLB rosters/pickups. Also, although some MiLBers show up in the ESPN player universe, I haven't figured out a way to open ESPN up to ALL minor league players. I'm pretty sure that's something ESPN would have to do, not us.

I'm in regardless of format, but would strongly prefer to do the 14 and 10 keepers, as most of us (even when we weren't participating as much as we should have been) were still doing what we could to trade for or keep talent that we felt strongly in. I'd hate to give up the guys that I've invested in. But again, I'm down for whatever.
Also, if we want to keep the draft pick trades, I don't see an issue with doing that for this year if needed.

Can we put some sort of "deadline" on making a final decision...just like anything, a deadline forces action.

Can we put some sort of "deadline" on making a final decision...just like anything, a deadline forces action. How does a March 1 keeper deadline sound? 14 MLB and 10 MiLB keepers. Then we do the MiLB draft over a week or two in March and do our MLB draft live on ESPN closer to Opening Day.

Can we still add players, either MLB or MiLB?

I'm in! Can we still add players, either MLB or MiLB? I'm pretty sure the deadline for that in previous years was 12/31, but that was also our keeper deadline. Our keeper deadline this season is 3/1, so I'm guessing we can pick up players until then. Unless someone objects, that is. Matt? Josh? Mack?

I had assumed I couldn't make moves at this point, otherwise I would've added a few minor leaguers. Someone make the call.

I think most of us were operating under the old 12/31 assumption, so let's just stick with it.

I'm in, and I'm good with the rules, and I will post my keepers but can I get one changed? I didn't realize the keeper lock date (totally my fault, wasn't paying attention) and haven't checked my team in a while but I don't remember ever making Jorge Polanco a keeper, it's supposed to be Ryon Healy of the A's if possible. If not that's fine.
