I had to point this out just because I'm not a dick or anything.... Bobby Ayala gave/traded me 11 million for a draft pick, I PMed you to not forget adding it to my roster cap space and you did. But then you subtract 11 million off Arods contract...Lol, what's going on with that, Im lost?

It's just to keep the math right. If I just gave you $11,000,000, it would increase your salary cap by that amount and decrease Bobby's cap. I don't want caps to increase or decrease by trading cash. Initially it was intended that if you traded away an expensive player, than the receiving team could request that you pay all or part of that player's salary, but it's evolved to buying draft picks and such, which is fine, but I don't cap numbers to change. That's why I took it out of what you owe Rodriguez instead of adding to your cap number. Getting cash increases cap space, but not your maximum salary cap.

so if some1 trades for arod do they get the 11mil discount? i mean that makes arod much more valuable. and if they don't, r we just gunna have 11mil bouncing from guy to guy on his team?

The $11,000,000 belongs to him. It's up to him if he wants to include it in any trade for Alex Rodriguez.

He can do whatever he wants with it. I chose Alex Rodriguez arbitrarily. The $11,000,000 isn't coverage for a player he received in a deal, so it wasn't intended to be salary coverage for one specific player. If he wants to include salary coverage for a player that he's trading away, it's all the same money. It doesn't specifically have to come from the $11 M he got in the trade. The numbers add up the same.

Maybe what's not clear is that this is NOT a transfer of assets. No cash is trading hands here. Otherwise, I'd leave JLane's salaries alone at $99,455,500, and his available cap space would still be $26,544,500. That would increase his salary cap to $126,000,000 and reduce Bobby's to $104,000,000. That is not what were doing here. You can cover a player's salary in a trade, but this isn't like real life when you can just write a check. We have a salary cap, and that cap number can't be changed in a trade. If cash is included, it's to pay a salary. Bobby Ayala is paying $11,000,000 of JLane's salaries, since there were no players included in the trade. I picked Alex Rodriguez to keep it simple. His salary is still $27,000,000, split between two owners. If you want to get Rodriguez in a trade, he'll cost $27 M unless JLane transfers the salary coverage over to you.

Just for the record, the trade for the money wasn't intended for my cap to go up to 126 million lol

Just for the record, the trade for the money wasn't intended for my cap to go up to 126 million lol Oh, I understand. I didn't mean to imply anything. I was in another league where money was flying around and everyone had a different salary cap, and it was stupid. I just want to make sure everyone has the same understanding about the numbers.

K, so I basically traded my round pick for Bobby to pay 40 percent of Arods contract? But I'm lost again, I might not be reading correctly. I had 23 million salary left to spare on picks, and you increased it to 34..That's because Bobby is paying 11 million for Arod, which still gives me 11 million to play around with correct?

Yes. The reason you now have $34,000,000 of cap space left instead of $23,000,000 is because Bobby is paying $11,000,000 of your salaries. Take Rodriguez out of the equation if it's confusing. He's inconsequential. I subtracted the $11 mil from his salary strictly for bookkeeping purposes, so everyone can see where every dollar goes. I could have put it on Jeter, Pujols, or Posada and absolutely nothing would change. If you trade Rodriguez and keep the salary coverage, I'll just make the note next to another player.
