Between 2010 and 2011, the MLB minimum salary went from $400,000 to $414,000. According to the new CBA, it will go to $480,000 in 2012 and to $500,000 sometime in the next few years.

I voted yes, and I think we should be proactive about this, raising it to $480,000 now to give us a year to adjust.

I like how their INCREASE was more than half the country makes per year.
By the way, I think we should just follow what reality is. This year it should be raised to 414k and then next year, to 480k (if that is what they'll make this year).

Since we base our salaries on the previous season, we should keep the minimum close to what it was, $414mil. But I like round numbers, how about $420mil?

I'm down with 420, as long as we're thinking we'll revisit this next season when they'll be making $480,000.

$420,000 or $425,000. I'm all about round numbers too. The $425,000 would cover us for a few years so we're not rehashing this constantly, and its easy to remember.

I don't know if $425,000 would cover us for a few years. MLB is raising the minimum to $480,000 for 2012, so after next year the Sandlot minimum really should reflect that. Perhaps we should just make it a league rule that the Sandlot minimum salary ALWAYS automatically increases to MLB's minimum in the year following. Then we never have to vote on something that seems like a no-brainer to most of us already.

Why don't we just raise the minimum salary cap to $500,000 this year. If an owner had a roster full of players that were just making the minimum last year and then again this year, the increase would only be $3 million. Their entire salary would be a mere $15 million of the $125 million or whatever number we raise it to.
Keeping round numbers also makes the math much easier for those keeping track of other people's rosters and salaries.

I'm good with $420,000 this season and $480,000 next season.
