Let's vote on how to determine draft order next year. Either we do it like we did this year, change it to a reverse order of standings, have a completely random draft order, or do a partial lottery where the bottom 8 teams have a randomly determined order 1-8 and the top 8 teams pick in reverse order of standings.

I would prefer a lottery for the bottom 8, but it should really be weighted (the worst team gets 8 'balls' in the barrel, second-worst team gets 7, down to the eighth-worst team getting 1). Generate a series of random numbers from a group of 36 and use the results to set the order. It only makes sense to weight the lottery towards the worst teams, but it's not enough of a difference for people to tank.

Instead of a snake style draft we should go to a MLB style draft for at least half the draft......this will help the bottom teams, so they can build a competitive team. The 16th place team should get the first pick.....and so on. Explain what this means: Partial lottery (only bottom 8 teams) ?

Explain what this means: Partial lottery (only bottom 8 teams) ? I guess I didn't explain that too well. I meant the teams that finish 9th -16th will have the top 8 picks in a randomly determined order, and the teams that finished 1st - 8th would pick 9-16 in reverse order of standings. Does that make sense? Does anyone think I meant something different?

OK....I thought that. what about my way? No snake I like the idea of not doing the draft snake-style. I know fantasy drafts have always typically been snake drafts, and that makes sense to me in a one-year league, but in a league like ours (that mimics real-life in many ways) we should consider doing the draft in the same way as most major professional sports leagues: same order every round. That's the best way to help teams who are consistently finishing near the bottom.

I'm in favor of the partial lottery and keeping the same order for every round.

I'm down with a partial lottery. I also agree that no snake will balance the talent a little better year to year. Obviously the upcoming draft needs to remain snake style b/c of trades that have already been made, but going forward I'm on board with changing it up.

Alright, that's decided. At some point this season we can figure out how exactly to do the lottery part.
