What does everyone think of ortmeier.. I don't know much about him. I guess it's that whole East-Coast bias thing........ He was never considered a huge prospect, but the team likes him. If he hits .280 with 20 homers he could be a nice 10th keeper. Great pick for the round.. |

He was decent enough in the minors but never had the much-wanted breakout, causing his value to slip up. But with modest power for a 1B that pegs him as #18-23 in the top 30, you can't ask for much better in this late a round. Not bad at all.
Now, all we have left to see is the Giants acquiring Joe Crede and see how far down his respective value will drop (same for Rich Aurilia, I suppose).

I was lookin at Derosa too... much better value at 2.7 M but I needed Lugo's SBs.

Hasn't done it in 2 years, he turns 42 this year, definitely under. When he is in, you get great power and average, so it wasn't a bad pick.

Great pick in Church, especially when the guy backing him up, Endy Chavez, was taken 4 rounds ago. I almost took Church over Burrell, but I wanted more of an impact player this year.

Plus, I figure Church is guaranteed to cover any time missed by other OFs (Alou) and thus hopefully will stay in the lineup.

Talents starting to get really thin out here.. I like it though. Im the guy that spends hours scouring the ww looking for that 1 player that might make the difference.. In 1 league I had 1 spot to pick up a player.. It was between Reynolds and Braun.. This was before the hype about either. Unfortunately picked up Reynolds cauase i figured I couldnt go wrong...

Uh, nope. I think it was alright. Dan Ortmeier in a hitter's park isn't bad at all in this late a round.

Nope. Last I heard from him was via ESPN Profile message right around the time he got skipped a round or two ago. His comp problems are devastating at this point - dude will be stuck with a team of nobodies.
