I had Denard Span as the #1 guy on my big board- great pick. He was the "best possible future keeper pick" on my board, but he's not the stats my team needs this season. I've got guys who should score runs and steal bases. I need a basher or two. Hopefully Manny remembers he's in a contract year. Span also doesn't fit my Grand Plan for World (Sandlot) Domination in the Future. Dude is just way too nice.

Remember how everyone was always so impressed when Manny "turned it on" and put up huge numbers? I think it was more like "shoot it up" and we might never see that again. He wasn't just a selfish bitch being Manny when he didn't hit, he was just on a down cycle.

Keep taking the OF, it is the one position I don't need.

I don't have any problem with Manny going first based on the potential for a return to 2008 form. Bitch Tits is in a "contract year' after all. He has to prove that he can still go in case Cleveland wants to bring him back in 2011 and beyond a la Ken Griffey Jr. in Seattle. By that time, however, he might have a ticket-incentive contract also (meaning he can't exactly go, but people will still pay to see him play). If it were me and I already had a shit ton of speed, I would have probably pulled the trigger, too.

I'm on board with the 1st round pick out of Tampa Catholic. He's everything you want out of a player: intensity at the plate with undoubted hustle. He allows his natural skills to take over and he's upsiding at the perfect age.
Rd. 1 done players! Hopefully some other sluggers swing back my way.....

Yea, Manny and Span were my 1-2. I'd put Manny first for 2010 production.

So he's been logged in for a while now, and he still hasn't made a pick... Haha. And here I thought the first round was easy.

Yea, Manny and Span were my 1-2. I'd put Manny first for 2010 production. Manny post suspension last year: .255/.379/.459. BY FAR the worst stretch of his career. He turns 38 this year, he's no longer juicing. DL time this year is a given, and a continued slide in numbers is very likely. Even the walks will continue to drop when pitchers figure out they can gas his suddenly snail-like bat speed.

I still think he will be a good source of power and OBP, but Span is definitely solid. It could be argued either way depending on team needs and I wouldn't have a problem with it. The salary difference may tip it.

Someone call Gary. He probably wouldn't want me to call his house.
He's on the clock until 9:33 AM EST tomorrow.

I would pay good money to listen in on that phone call. Maybe you can invite him to see The Rock's new movie "Tooth Fairy" while you're at it... you know, to bury the hatchet and all.

Cuddy was a solid pick man. I was hoping in the back of my mind that he'd last until my pick.

Cuddyer makes me wonder if i should have kept him, I def got a steal where i drafted him last year.

Yup, and you probably recall that a few people had their doubts about whether he'd produce above his draft position at that time. I think I might have been one of them. Open mouth, insert foot, am I right? He surprised me quite a bit with his performance. And with his 1B eligibility, that adds a little something to his value that he wouldn't otherwise have.

It really came down to me having 3 Outfielders I liked, that would all do about the same thing as him.I felt Hamilton Reimold and Beltran had more upside this year, and Cuddyer would be harder pressed to repeat. Plus players i would have possibly kept him over ex:Aybar, had little options at their positions. Honestly Im suprised with the lack of talent in the draft, though i guess i shouldnt be. I prolly reached with Cantu.

Yeah, needs come first every time. While I'd have liked Cuddyer to round out my outfield, I don't really need him either.
Cantu is 50/50 in my mind. I thought he'd have continued to pound the ball after his 2008, but I was disappointed. Now he's relegated to first base thanks to his bad defense. Big hit or miss guy.

The real reason i drafted him is I wanted rbis and batting average, And he should be batting at the heart of the Marlins lineup. If he has a season like 08 Im a genius, If its 09 then no harm no foul really. My team is gonna need help from prospects like Gamel and Brantley.

I'm pretty sure he's working right now, either that or he's doing something with his kids. He's got a 3-year-old (I think) and a 6-month-old.

Yeah he has a 4yr old and a 5 month old, and he's on the west coast. He'll probably get on later tonight. He has until 10:18 AM EST tomorrow.

Cantu had a "bad" year last year, and still produced decent numbers. I don't think you reached, it's not like there's that handful of can't miss guys that we seemed to have last year.
