Even though Gary's last pick was at 11:25am today, his clock technically ran out at 11:09 (Jackson's time ran out 11:09pm the night before.)
That's why Junkies is on the clock until 11:09pm tonight.

Yeah, I just saw that and went to change it (saw that it was already fixed).

Haha...sounds like you've had him once (or twice) in the past couple of years.
I figured that at this point, I could care less if the guy doesn't even play this year. He'd just sit there on the IR all year. But...if he comes anywhere close to putting up decent stats for even half a year, a mil and a half for this year (with my team option for a mil even next year was worth throwing the pick away.

Oh, yeah. He's totally worth it even if you only get 12-15 good starts from him. If he's back in form for a full season, you just scored a coup.
My problem with Bedard is that the first time I ever owned him was 2006. It was my first year playing, I had inherited a sucky team, and just started grabbing any FA who looked great in any category. I finished second that year, and drafted him back in 2007. He helped me to my first fantasy championship and I thought he was the man. Mancrushes are hard to break. I traded a 12th-round pick for him last season thinking it would round out my pitching staff, and got nothing from him. Dammit.

Worst-luck story for me has to be this one:
My first year playing fantasy baseball was 2006 (H2H points league with my brother and his Chicago cronies). From the late 80s / early 90s, I hadn't followed baseball much at all. So in '06, my draft consisted of guys who I had heard of (mostly older players, who I had taken WAY too early), and guys who had been listed in an article on their website (mostly no-namers who did nothing).
I shit you not, Kevin Mench was my 5th round pick. My starting infield included such powerhouses as Marcus Giles, Khalil Greene, and Shea Hillenbrand. I did get lucky with a few picks (Halladay coming off the injury, Thome after joining the Sox did OK, etc). What helped was the fact that my team was so shitty, so early that I was taking chances on rookies. HanRam, Liriano, and Cole Hamels got me to a 2nd place finish.
The NEXT YEAR, I come into the draft all cocky like I know what I'm doing. My first 2 picks were Chris Carpenter and Brett Myers. Carp never pitched an inning for me, as he blew out his elbow in the first game of the year (our league didn't start until the day after). Myers was relegated to relief duty after a horrendous start to the season. And to top it all off, yeah...I drafted Harden, who gave me a grand total of 25 innings.
Needless to say, I finished dead last and had the 2nd worst record in league history (still stands to this day).

I read about this massive storm blasting the midwest and heading into the northeast, and I was prepared for some major shit here in Virginia Beach again, but we're forecasted to hit 71 degrees tomorrow. weird. We can barely get out of the 40's most days, and it's typically been in the 30s for daytime highs the last few weeks, and we're going to go back down into the 40s Thursday, but 71 tomorrow?

Duchscherer and Shafer could be good picks.

Duchscherer and Shafer could be good picks. There are a lot of IFs that have to happen for Schafer to even get playing time. Schafer has to be healthy and have an impressive Spring Training, McLouth has to be ineffective again, and Schafer has to perform if he gets a chance to play in McLouth's place. He was my second-to-last pick in this draft, though, so he's worth a shot.

IF 1-2 of them work out really well, then I've got a heck of a set of keepers next season.

I've taken Chris Davis, Kyle Blanks, Matt Joyce, Matt LaPorta, and Mat Gamel. They could each hit 20 homers, or all 5 could combine for 20 homers.

Yeah Davis and Gamel are blocked, they were just spec picks. Blanks is hurt so he's also just a stash for later. LaPorta and Joyce should have a chance to play, but both guys could hit .190 and be out of a job before April is up.

$12M is Burnett's old Toronto contract that he opted out of. He costs $16.5M in 2010 under his new Yankee contract.
$16.5M is right. Did you read this part of his old contract?
"deal includes 8 round-trip limousine trips per season between Toronto & Burnett's Maryland home for his wife"
OK, all I want to know how when you are negotiating for millions and millions of dollars, how this is brought up as a stipulation. Apparently the contract is not covering the cost to rent or even buy your own limo.

Here's one in Alex Rodriguez's contract: perks: may purchase 4 best available season tickets for 2008, 4 Legends Suite or comparable season tickets for 2009-17At least he doesn't get them for free...
