Burnett's wife lives in Maryland with the kids, and she has a serious fear of flying.
I assume the Jays already owned a limo, but if not they could buy a nice one for around $75-80k.
Then you're talking about $300 for gas on each round-trip and paying a driver to drive a total of 16 hours per round trip. The Jays were already ponying up $55M...what's another perk that costs under $1000 per trip? And if you know your wife has a fear of flying, why not ask?

I remember Manny had to donate something like $1M to a Dodger charity from that massive 2-year robbery he pulled off in LA.

The Japanese must be tough to negotiate with...here are some of the things in Daisuke Matsuzaka's contract: * physical therapist * massage therapist * interpreter * 8 first-class round-trip airline tickets per year between Boston & Japan * spring training housing allowance of up to $25,000 * Boston housing allowance of up to $75,000 * one-time moving allowance of up to $35,000 * use of Lincoln Town Car or similar car * Red Sox player ticket package (including 2 field box seats) * team employee to assist Japanese media * uniform No. 18 * cannot be sent to the minor leagues By now, you should know who Dice-K's agent is

They knew he wanted to buy one so he could build a lake or something like that on his farm. They would have stories about him using it for people in his home town. He leveled a bunch of land so someone could build a restaurant. He was an all around class act, I am going to miss him in an Astros uniform.

to clarify, after the MLB draft is over, we can't pick up any free agents until after the MILB draft?
