Great idea! You'd get him for the minimum.

Koufax started with him, not sure if he kept him all year though.

His 2nd half was very good. And he had a pretty good k rate, and is cheap. k rate is good, but 5.55 ERA in 404 career IP. walks almost 5 guys per 9. i'm not trying to knock the pick, i honestly want to know if i overlooked a guy. i'll have a few more drafts in before the season begins and i use this league as a measuring stick. maybe i'll have to give him another look. I read that a lot of people like him as a sneaky pick this year because of all the things mentioned...2nd half, K/9. For what it's worth Matthew Berry has him having a Volquez type breakout year with a sub 3.50 ERA and 200 K's or something like that in a 'fearless forecast' article on ESPN. He could have 150 K's and a 6.00 ERA in Colorado or he get his shit together and be a nice player. He's probably a 20th round pick in another league, but worth the flier. Good pick Dave.

I thought you all were talking about Franklin Morales for a second there, but he has a few more problems than De La Rosa at the moment.

I think Matthew Berry was being a little bold even for himself. I don't see how a guy who will essentially be 28 on opening day with 400+ innings in his career could be poised for a Volquez-esque breakout. Shouldn't that have happened already, and in some place other than Colorado? He could be a nice find, but Volquez was the top pitcher for the first half last season, if I remember correctly.

I'd go so far as to say Matthew Berry is talking out of his ass. De La Rosa could only be poised for a Cliff Lee type break out.

I was hoping Maholm would be there when I picked again in the eighth round. By the way, 'eighth' is the hardest fucking word in the English language to spell.

I added the Volquez bit. He just said sub 3.50 ERA and 200 K's I think. I'm not a Matt Berry guy, I was just commenting on why a lot of people had him as a sleeper, since a lot of people read his stuff.

He's really annoying. I've met him once and he was funny in person, but usually his atricles are all over the place.

Trash-talking Matthew Berry has me thinking about our finally setting up our Sandlot blog. I think I'll set one up over at blogspot.com today.

Great pick with Cameron. Putting up those numbers in spite of a lengthy suspension made me a believer in him this year.

Great pick with Cameron. Putting up those numbers in spite of a lengthy suspension made me a believer in him this year. Yeah, not sure why he last this long. In a full season, will he finally be that 30/30 guy we've been hoping for? I'd say 30/20 is easily in reach. I'll make my next pick here in a few. Just have to check on a few things first.
