I love how we wait for the same people every round. I'll say for the 5th time. Leave a cell number and you won't get skipped. 9179742619 is mine I just sent myself an insulting text. Sneaky fucker.

Good pick with Balfour. He was next on my list.

I liked Balfour, too.
My dinner is delayed until 8 as my boss is at some city function that ran over. I sure hope I didn't rush this pick, but I have a feeling it will serve me well anyway.

Ziegler and Balfour both will be very valuable even if they don't get more than 5-10 saves. Sherrill is going to have to find a way to keep that closer job to have any value, but that's the way it goes when you take your first RP in the 18th round...I'm going to be chasing saves all year, terrible.

I think I'll be in the same boat, but I don't regret acquiring Pedroia no matter what kind of season Bobby Jenks has (he could kill me for 40 saves, that mongrel).

I was on the phone with Puckettiers and was thinking along the lines of Ziegler & Sherrill.....

Sorry guys when i am out I am not at a PC so i never know when its my pick and I have to have Tootles get on and do my reasearch for me.
219-789-5441 Test works best!
I own a DJ service and I am producer of Indiana Idol. Its the lagest karaoke talent contest ever. Proceeds go to benifit a kids abused home in IN. Over 450 will try out for it and the top 20 will sing at the county fair for 3500$ in prizes.. Sorry. Hopefully after next week it will get back to normal.

Nice dude. I worked for a St. Louis DJ service a few years ago during college. Owning a company like that can prove very lucrative (and very fulfilling, considering the work you're doing now).
When is this year's county fair? I may swing by if I can coordinate my visit home around it.

Yea I know, hate when Rp give me 86 ks. and are 4th in line to close, and have a 3.54 ERA, and aren't in the top 10 of RP left (even after the RP run). Just a bit too early for Rafael...

I wish guys would go pick all their guys up on the ESPN site. That would alleviate a lot of the back-and-forth referencing other owners have done when projecting their next five to six picks.

I guess We just have different opinions on Rp then. I have no room to talk about RP. I have probably the 2 worst 'closers' in this league. I like to keep things interesting.

Well I almost drafted guys like Balfour but I wanted someone who had put good seasons back to back before. Perez will likely be the setup man this year, getting hopefully a bunch of holds. He has a good K rate, and a decent whip.
At least noone here has a problem with me selecting sheilds.

Ive heard By committe and its Arredondo and Sheilds. And I have no reason not to think Sheilds will end up with it eventually, specially when fuentes falls apart.

atm = At the moment.
And yeah, both Shields and Arredondo will be setting up Fuentes this coming season, depending on the situation at hand.

Closer watch has Jensen Lewis as Cle RH setup man, and Perez as Cle LH setup man. Lewis got the save opps down the stretch last year & converted 13 out of 13 in Aug & Sept. They will both get the Holds opps, but Lewis will get the save opps if Wood gets injured, ATM.
Shields is a great MR pitcher, but seems to always blow it when he gets saves opps. He doesn't come too cheap either for a MR.
Neither are bad picks right now, not the ones everyone would make, but still not bad either.

The best set-up guy in the game is still on the board though- I'll let you know when he gets taken.
I just think taking a guy like Perez because he strikes out 86 guys, as apposed to a different guy who might be in line to get more saves and/or holds and has a better ERA and WHIP, but gets only 56 Ks, is bad logic. Each tem should top 1000Ks this year, so 30Ks doesn't mean much.

I'm hoping he makes it to me 4 picks from now! He doesn't have the pressure of closing anymore, so he should get that ERA back under 2.50, K rate of more than 1/IP, he's AMAZING! And if you believe that, Matt Clement is going to win the Cy Young! And Chris Shelton will be MVP!

Each tem should top 1000Ks this year, so 30Ks doesn't mean much. There are several better setup men than Perez out there right now without a doubt in my mind. Thing is that MR's ERA & WHIP change soooo much from year to year that there is no way you can say Perez' measuring stats will be bad this year. Looking at his '07 & age, he could progress. Look at some of the top MR's from '07 that bombed in terms of ERA & WHIP last year(Lyon, Betancourt, Speier, Sherril, Riske, Benoit). Rougly half of the ones that had under a 3 ERA ended up with ERA's in the 4.5-5.5 ERA's. K's, on the other hand, tend to be a stat that will stick with RP's year in & year out. So, while it wasn't the pick I would have made, and I do think there is better out there, I can easily understand why the pick was made. I tried to pick up some "good" MR's later in the draft last year using extra money I had. Those players had good ERA's & WHIP's in '07. Most of the bombed for me. It's mostly a crapshoot with a lot of MR's.
