I drafted Riske, Neshek, & Speier last year. Looking at '07 stats, they were 3 very good MR's to have with closer potential for all 3 (Neshek if Nathan was traded, Riske if Gagne faultered, & Speier if K-Rod got injured). I didn't own any of them by years end, and I think they were off my team by mid-year.
I also had Sherril. If he wasn't closing, he would have been gone as well. 4.73 ERA & 1.50 WHIP after a 2.36 & .99 in '07.

You kind of had to wait 12 minutes before you make the pick officially, though I don't think it will matter.
And DeWitt makes the minimum, $390,000.

Somebody text Austin. He left his cell number on either page 26 or 27 of this thread. (I would but I don't have text on my phone.)

I texted him. He said he'll make his pick shortly but he needs to get on his pc at home.

Wow, you're right. I forgot Schick got on and grabbed his guy. My bad!
Maybe I'm hallucinating. This weekend has been all about getting my internet fix in after FINALLY getting it installed at home. Now, all I have to do is wake up and I'm already by a comp with internet access.
<-- Happy boy!

LOL, you finally took Buehrle.
Pelfrey could be better than Buehrle, my friend, but I definitely know what you're saying. If I hadn't taken him and already had my eye fixed on another starter in, oh, round 12, I'd have swooped in like a vulture.

It's Carl's pick right now. Buckner and I traded. I gave him my 8th round pick for his 9th round pick and his 13th round pick

I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't draft Buehrle for 2 reasons. First he costs $14 mil. A lot of us are well under cap, but that's still a lot for any pitcher, pitchers get hurt, especially pitchers that have thrown 200+ innings for 8 straight years. I know that speaks more to his durability than injury, but still. Second, and more importantly, you know Buerhle isn't going to get better. I think all of our egos believe that the majority of our picks are going to magically out-preform their expectation and give us a terrific year that will make us look very smart. Not Buerhle. Every one of us knows he's going 14-10 with a 3.80 ERA, 100 and something average K's, and a respectable. WHIP. It will be a fact that he will out-perform every pitcher drafted within several rounds of him, but he's just not sexy, he's Buehrle.

Did Gary really not leave his pick with anyone? No I didn't. And it shouldn't upset you if I don't, you will to have patience.

The best set-up guy in the game is still on the board though- I'll let you know when he gets taken. And the answer is... Scott Downs. Good pick, Nuke. Not a Buehrle pick, but sexy.
