I was going to pick Greene with my next pick, even though I don't need him. I think he's really going to bounce back in St. Louis this year. That might be the steal of the draft so far.

The best set-up guy in the game is still on the board though- I'll let you know when he gets taken. And the answer is... Scott Downs. Good pick, Nuke. Not a Buehrle pick, but sexy. Armando Benitez disagrees.

I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't draft Buehrle for 2 reasons. First he costs $14 mil. A lot of us are well under cap, but that's still a lot for any pitcher, pitchers get hurt, especially pitchers that have thrown 200+ innings for 8 straight years. I know that speaks more to his durability than injury, but still. Second, and more importantly, you know Buerhle isn't going to get better. I think all of our egos believe that the majority of our picks are going to magically out-preform their expectation and give us a terrific year that will make us look very smart. Not Buerhle. Every one of us knows he's going 14-10 with a 3.80 ERA, 100 and something average K's, and a respectable. WHIP. It will be a fact that he will out-perform every pitcher drafted within several rounds of him, but he's just not sexy, he's Buehrle. Are you saying Buerle men aren't sexy? Fuck me, does that mean I have to shave my beard? Buehrle men aren't sexy at all. We're fuckin' manly. With tools and ladders and shit.

Andy Pettitte signed back on with the Yankees, for a lower amount than he was originally offered by them when he turned it down.
Come on Yankee fans, show your loyalty. Draft the guy already.

Not sure what you're asking, but he was paid $16 mil last year. He was offered $10 mil by the Yanks, but declined the offer. Now he just accepted a $5.5 Mil offer that could reach $12 Mil with incentives. This FA market is crazy. This may effect our payrolls for next year.

I almost drafted him instead of Brad Penny because someone called me the Yankees... It'll be interesting to see who has a better year.

There's still time Nuke, you could live the dream. Be a Steinbrenner. Pick up Dandy Andy!

Last year, Gary, you thought Yuni Betancourt might have that big year when he turned 27 ... you must have a SS fetish.

Great pick with JD Drew. I was trying so hard to move up and take him. As long as he plays 115+ games, that's the steal of the draft right there.

Thanks! 14 mil is probably a bit too much to pay for 115 games, but when he is on... I had targeted Godzilla, and even Kubel, but was happy to have J.D.'s bat fall to me this late. Considering the elite managers in this league...like vultures...picking the bones clean...I was pretty lucky.

Drew in 115 games can put up Kubel's full season and Matsui's 120 games, easily. Especially with OBP in play.

Damn. I almost took Byrnes, but thought he might make it back. Same here. He was way overvalued last year, now he's considered dogshit & extremely undervalued.

Brynes is a great risk/reward pick. Bobby only needs 2 more players to fill the rest of his team.

So do we just skip all of his picks after that?

He's going to start the year on the bench, so there's no telling when and for how long he'll stay a starter. Tracy will play first while Jackson mans the outfield while Byrnes gets his shit together.
...At least that's what I've read from reporters and writers speaking with the D-Back skipper himself. The upside is there, for sure, but the question remains: When will he start producing again?
I hope for Bobby's sake he pans out (and for Byrnes' sake, he's a great guy). Great sleeper.

So do we just skip all of his picks after that? No he can go OVER his salary and roster during the draft. Then with the 10 days in-between the MLB and MiLB drafts all teams will have to be at or under the cap and roster limits.

I hope he crashes & burns now, unless I draft him on another team. I can still easily see him get 400 AB's. Between Tracy being injury prone & moving around tracy/connor to give other guys days off. Kind of a Mark DeRosa situation, except not at 2B.

So do we just skip all of his picks after that? I have 2 more spots to fill, and only 3 more picks. I'll probably sell the final pick if anyone is interested (19.02,) or I'll just pick someone and try to trade one of my guys before the season starts.

Or you can pick whichever POS bottom-feeder from the 19th round and drop him immediately afterward. I doubt you'll find anyone in round 19 that's going to make you want to trade some other guy, haha.
