He wants to know why he gets skipped, says it's hard, and then DOESN'T MAKE HIS PICK?
Somebody get on the horn and explain to Austin what's going on here. Seriously.

I wasn't saying it was your fault. Rather, I believe it's our faults for not fully explaining all these situations to you guys and not knowing/understanding the hectic schedules tied in with each person.

So do we just skip all of his picks after that? I have 2 more spots to fill, and only 3 more picks. I'll probably sell the final pick if anyone is interested (19.02,) or I'll just pick someone and try to trade one of my guys before the season starts. I still can't understand how you managed to work so many shitty picks into trades for better picks.

its cool I was just explaining. Nellie has been helping quite a bit. I did not know rounds got shorter so I mis judged .. thats why i left my number. If someone text me I can get to nellie and have him give me info to make picks.

I needed Miller to last just one more pick....

I needed Miller to last just one more pick.... I didn't think he would go this early. I didn't think Owings would either. Especially since it might be a while before he earns true value as an everyday outfielder.

Especially since it might be a while before he earns true value as an everyday outfielder. It's pretty obvious Micah Owings can hit, and has good power, but I still believe his true value lies in his 96 mph fastball. I definitely think he can build on his 2007 season.

Would you trade him to me for Mike Hampton?

Owings is a toss-up. Guaranteed spot in the rotation can't hurt and he'll have better pitching match-ups, though the offensive talent in the NL Central will likely hit him hard.
Speaking of vulnerable pitchers, Bonderman anyone? I'm sick to my stomach after this pick but "We need the dudes."

I was honestly weighing out my options between Pie and Bonderman. I already have five OF, so Pie as a sixth wouldn't give me too much value outside of filling in for an injury. Great pickup.

I almost picked Bonderman when I took Scott Olsen, but the $8.5M price tag turned me off.

My list was down to Pie, Bonderman, Affeldt, Pettitte, etc... I think it was fairly obvious who was about to go in this section of the draft.

If I've learned anything after last season, it's this: I'm not going to be a bitch about price tags as long as I have money to spend.

I'm tired and drunk, and just want to say: you all suck. fyi.
It's harder than everyone makes it seem to keep up with this shit every 4 hours on weekdays. I side with Austin. If you can keep up with this shit that much, you need more to do. I don't care how much you say you have going on.

I work a lot and have a pretty busy schedule, but dont have TOOO mych trouble keeping up. I dont think Ive made the league wait for me too long. If I know My pick may be coming up, i just send my pick to someone who doesnt pick before me.

I went to sleep last night with 6 picks before my next one. I signed on this afternoon with people skipping me and the commish message telling me to hurry up and pick. I'm sorry, but I have A LOT more important shit going on than this. And when 9+ picks pass between normal sleeping hours and the early work day, there isn't much most of us can do.
For the future I suggest we either set a specific timeframe for the draft or everyone just settles the fuck down. (And this isn't just about my previous pick, it's been building from all the comments this year)

I'll send you a text that says: It's your pick. You can text me back: Who's been picked. I'll reply and tell you who's been picked. You tell me who you want and I'll post it and you won't get skipped, or have anyone know your list of gems. And those of us who have been paying attention don't need more to do. I worked 70 hours last week and have an infant. I couldn't have any more to do. It's as simple as having a computer at my desk.

I know thi shas been said already, but dont we wait on the same people everytime?
Oh and i just wanted to say Carl I love how this draft is worked. We get hours or even days to decide who we want. I feel everyone is happier after the draft when its done this way. It makes draft steals that much better, cause everyone is looking for them.

My sand is only a result of everyone else's sand about pick times...
What I don't think people realize is just because you can find time during your week doesn't mean other people can. I had my comp in front of me ALL week and had MAYBE 15 mins I could look at this league (during the work day, which is my point). It's all relative to whatever the fuck you actually do in front of your computer.
And no, I'm not gonna wait to recieve text messages on this. It takes analysis to make a proper decision, and that can't be made via text message. I can't prepare for 7+ picks just in case every one of my guys gets picked. Plus, no matter how tight this league and it's players is, we are still competitors and no matter who you are I don't like disclosing my picks ahead of time FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S BENIFITS. If it was for me, maybe. But why give out my targets just so others can pick??
For everyone it's as simple as their own situation. Unfortunately, we all have different lives.

And I don't think anyone is riled up about this, except you and Austin (and probably Gary.) Mack messaged you probably because he didn't want to see you get skipped, not to try to light a fire under your ass.
If you get skipped, it's not a big deal. And at the same time, making someone wait 4 hours isn't a big deal either. It's a compromise. This is the exact same way we did it last year, it's not like this stuff is a surprise or something. We're each responsible for our own shit, so if you feel you have more important shit to do, unfortunately fantasy baseball suffers. Just like if you had a bonzai tree and it wasn't a priority over work, etc, Guess What! It wouldn't look all pretty and pruned like bonzai are supposed to. That's life. But that doesn't mean that everyone else should slow their shit down to suit your priorities. If our situations were reversed, I wouldn't expect you to do anything special because I'm too busy.

Is anyone else having any trouble keeping track of what players are available now that ESPN is down? I must say I have not done a stellar job at highlighting drafted players. Are there better alternatives than to have 3 different excel sheets?
Has there been discussion to move the draft later in the year to take into account the ESPN shutdown that has occurred the last couple of years? Having ESPN was helpful when I was guided to it as a source. After I took this advice, I did not pay careful enough attention to mark players as the draft went on. Now that ESPN is down...I am not confident on a couple of players status.
Is RP Motte, SP Jeff Francis or SP Guthrie or SP Blanton...not sure if I am going to draft these players, but would like to get a sense of their availability...thanks!

Did you just compare FBB to a fucking bonzai tree? Random.

I'm rarely someone the league waits on, and frequently someone waiting on others, and I still feel this way.

It wasn't even a message. I replaced OTC until ...... with Time's up! Hurry and make your pick! just like I do everytime someone gets skipped and I'm actually around for it. It's just a friendly reminder. No need for anyone to get their panties in a bunch.

If you're not sure if a player's drafted, there is a search button after you click on 2009 mlb draft. Type in the player's name, and you'll see if his name has come up at all

Idk. I would help ya Dj but I havent looked at those players in particular. I honestly used Espn As my bible. I can compare players stats going back to years with a single click, and then click on them for more in depth info. Then go on baseballcube for Minor league numbers. But i happen to have 2 guys i like so I havent had to "gulp" figure out my picks after I draft them or they are gone.

Bobby, you have to be kidding. Nobody riled up about pick times? Maybe not from this side (where longer times are desired). But, this has been the biggest issue with our draft(s). And your bonzai example sucks. If it isn't such a big deal, why so much commenting on people who miss their picks or make others wait?
