I don't see why they don't just get skipped instead of still giving them 4 hours to make a pick. If the person after them doesn't know they took an inelligible player, that person would pick. Then it's not fair to tell that person that their pick isn't valid because the guy before them messed up. Tell them they made a bad pick, and let the draft roll on.

I think we do that anyway, unless the bad pick is caught before the next person picks.

Xavier Nady OF FA $6,550,000 Does the pick count if you post it on the "Draft Commentary" thread instead of on the "Fifteenth Round" thread?

Yeah, come on Ryan, make things easy on your commish and anyone else who has to keep track of this stuff. Someone's going to run a search later to see if nady was taken and he's not going to show up on the draft thread. This is so, so easy to do, please try just a little bit harder to do it right.

I think they should be required to forfeit $1M in payroll to the person who catches them first. I owe Colin 2 MILLION............. ;D I had a bad 14th round. Drew Stubbs was going to be the steal of the draft......but dammit it pooped out!

Xavier Nady OF FA $6,550,000 Dickman has to be over salary NOW! 30 guys x (avg) $6,000,000 = $180,000,000

I guess he thinks he'll put Beltran on the DL to start the season, unfortunately Beltran won't officially be on the DL until a week before the season starts, and our deadline to set rosters and payroll will be long before then. Bedard will either be in the same situation, or if he's unsigned, he won't go on the DL at all. He should drop the $18mil+ in unsigned backup outfielders he has and start drafting cheaper players. Hint, hint Ryan.

Not to pile on with more negative shit, but Nady is not a free agent anymore. He finalized a one-year contract with the Chicago Baby Bears on January 29. Talk about paying attention!

I'm pretty sure there's been a time before where if someone knows a player is going to start the year on the DL, he can put him on even though ESPN says he's not. I think we've done that before, I could be wrong though.

I love how Ryan keeps posting that he thinks his team is a contender, and thinks it's funny whenever his team isn't mentioned as one of the teams to look out for. I bet we'll be replacing him by August.

For those of you who are still unclear on how we make our picks in the MLB Draft, here is the rubric you need to follow:
Player Name, Position and Team (if he is a free agent, just type "FA"), 2009 Salary.
This setup allows Sandlot owners to keep track with Excel spreadsheets and help other owners keep up-to-date on their own rosters. For the veterans who have been in this league since Day One, I would remind you that you are the ones who are supposed to help the new guys. When the new guys get it and you don't, there might be a problem. Looking up a player's 2009 salary, for example, takes thirty seconds at the most.
More information = less work = easier accounting = better-managed teams = yay happy fun time.
Hugs and Kisses,
Ruck

Let's finish this draft by the time the Super Bowl starts. Only about 30 picks to go. C'mon, let's crank this shit out.
